Since returning to action at WrestleMania, Daniel Bryan has been involved in some decent enough rivalries but nothing which has helped restore him to the level of popularity he had back in 2014. Now, it appears as if we'll have to brace ourselves for the leader of the Yes Movement to be booed because he turned heel on SmackDown Live after defeating AJ Styles for the WWE Championship.

According to Dave Meltzer, Bryan has actually been pushing to turn heel for quite some time now so this is something he wanted rather than a "punishment" for not attending Crown Jewel last month.

As for the decision to put the title on Bryan, that was made last weekend and Vince McMahon decided that the heel turn would take place at the same time to maximise heat. However, committing to this heel turn was more than likely a response to Becky Lynch's injury as it's given fans something to talk about heading into Survivor Series after her highly anticipated match was called off.
