Is Daniel Bryan finished with WWE? For now, the answer to that question appears to be YES! YES! YES!
Fightful is reporting that the former WWE Champion's contract has expired, and as of last week, he's no longer under contract with the company. That means his banishment from SmackDown could serve as his final match in WWE, and as soon as Roman Reigns picked up the win in that Universal Championship match, Bryan was no longer officially signed to a deal.
Bryan has been written out of storylines, though the door was left open to him returning to RAW or NXT. It's no secret that the Leader of the Yes Movement is keen to spend more time at home, so if WWE hopes to keep him around, they will need to come up with a reduced schedule to benefit his health and allow him to be the father and husband he clearly wants to be.
Dave Meltzer has also shared an update, and he notes that while Bryan's deal expired on Friday, WWE is now pushing hard for him to sign a new contract.
Bryan has talked about hoping to wrestle in other companies and even said in a recent interview that it's something he's pushing for. It's hard to imagine WWE going for that, but if he were to sign with All Elite Wrestling...well, Bryan would be free to compete when and where he wants across the globe.
Stay tuned for updates as we're sure to hear more on this soon!
