Since the news broke that WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair had parted ways with the company, there have been conflicting reports on whether the Nature Boy quit or if Vince McMahon decided to fire him.
We've heard something about a text being sent from Flair to Vince about the way his daughter, Charlotte, was being booked, but thanks to Wrestling Observer Live's Bryan Alvarez, we have more details.
"I heard that Ric was unhappy with Charlotte’s booking," he explains. "He was upset with her booking and so the story I heard was that he sent a text message to Vince and the text message essentially said, ‘You either fix it or I quit.’ Vince, of course, did not fix it and so Ric Flair quit."
However, as for whether Flair jumped or if he was pushed, Alvarez added: "You can basically say that Vince fired him because he refused to kowtow his demands. Or you can look at the Flair side and go well his demands were not kowtowed to so he quit. Basically, I think that explains the discrepancy in this story, did he quit or was he fired? Well, he gave him an ultimatum and Vince was like ‘Forget about it buddy.’ Either side, technically I guess, would be correct."
It's a weird situation, that's for sure, but Flair is now done with WWE.
We don't know if he has a 90-day non-compete clause in his contract, but the Nature Boy had no issue heading to IMPACT Wrestling once upon a time, so could AEW be on the horizon? It would certainly be pretty cool to see him support his future son-in-law Andrade at some point...
