Diamond Dallas Page was a huge star in WCW, but his WWE run didn't last long. A big part of that was the decision to book him in an angle with The Undertaker that saw DDP revealed as the man stalking the Deadman's wife. This is remembered as one of the worst storylines from that era, and it's not one the WWE Hall of Famer looks back on fondly either.
During a recent conversation with Kurt Angle, DDP opened up on how he wishes he'd responded.
"Vince McMahon taught me to never be afraid to walk away from the table. What I should’ve done was got up," the head honcho behind DDP Yoga revealed. "When Vince said, ‘I want you to stalk The Undertaker’s wife,’ and he’s looking across from one of the most beautiful women ever, my first ex-wife, I was there to be a part of the team. In WCW I fought for everything."
"If I were in the WCW mindset and Vince said we want you to stalk Undertaker’s wife, I would’ve looked at him, looked at her, looked back at him, and said, ‘Vince are you looking at my wife?’ I’m going to stalk some other cats wife when everybody knows she’s my wife? What I should’ve done was shook everyone’s hands and said love the idea, but not for DDP."
Despite that, DDP and The Undertaker have remained firm friends in the years that have followed, while he's still remembered as one of the greatest of all time despite this questionable angle.
As much as DDP hated being revealed as the stalker, he went on to reveal the one feud he never got to pursue in WWE he wish he could have been part of. "When you want to do people’s champion vs. people’s champion (DDP vs. The Rock) call me," he said, teasing an angle that never happened.
