During last night's episode of SmackDown Live, WWE announced that Dolph Ziggler will face The Miz at SummerSlam. That's a bout we've seen many, many times before now but it doesn't actually sound like it's happening.
According to Dave Meltzer, the match announcement is a "red herring" and WWE is planning to change it before SummerSlam. It remains to be seen whether that's the case as Meltzer might just be trying to cover up the fact that he reported in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Ziggler will have a match at the PPV but not against The Miz.
Bear in mind that Ziggler recently attacked WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels and there's been some speculation that he could return to the squared circle to face Ziggler.
It seems we'll have to wait and see but with just one more episode of RAW and SmackDown Live set to take place before SummerSlam, WWE will have to act fast if the plan really is to change the battle between these two old rivals.
