TV Insider recently caught up with WWE Champion Drew McIntyre to discuss a number of topics, including the upcoming SummerSlam PPV. The Scottish Superstar is set to defend his title against Randy Orton at the show, and it could be a unique bout with rumours swirling about the show taking place on a beach, boat, or similar outdoor venue.
WWE Chairman Vince McMahon is intent on doing something different for one of the company's biggest events of the year, and rumour has it that one possible location could be Atlantic City, New Jersey. Ultimately, McMahon just wants a venue where actual fans can attend (easier said than done given the way the COVID-19 pandemic is being handled in the United States right now).
As for McIntyre, he chose his words carefully. "It would certainly be unique, which is what it’s all about right now. We’re trying to catch people’s attention with something different. The environment at the Performance Center is what it is. But a boat would certainly catch my attention."
It would catch the attention of wrestling fans as well, and be a more exciting venue than the WWE Performance Center (which is essentially an empty gym). With SummerSlam just weeks away, we'll probably find out more soon, and as McIntyre points out, "it would certainly be unique."
What do you guys think?
