Drew McIntyre On Why His Duet With Tyson Fury At CLASH AT THE CASTLE In 2022 Was "The Worst Moment Of My Life"

Drew McIntyre has reflected on singing "American Pie" with boxer Tyson Fury at Clash at the Castle in Cardiff, Wales, in 2022, explaining why he now views that moment as "the worst moment of my life."

At the first Clash at the Castle PLE in 2022, Drew McIntyre challenged Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. Fans expected the Scottish Psychopath to dethrone the Head of the Table, only for a debuting Solo Sikoa to cost him the match.

When the show ended, McIntyre was joined in the ring by boxer Tyson Fury; he's since said the segment wasn't supposed to air, and now calls that joint rendition of "American Pie" a low point in his WWE run.

"I was so happy getting Clash in Wales and doing the first [UK] stadium show since SummerSlam '92, getting to main event," he tells Cultaholic. "[I] obviously wasn't happy getting screwed and the worst moment of my life, singing that stupid song afterwards. But I'm very happy that you persevered, you believed [that] you keep working and you might just get a redo."

"It's not just a redo, it couldn't be any more perfect, it's literally in Glasgow. Where I went to [University] for four years. 30 minutes from here is where I grew up. We've gotta make it right this time," McIntyre added. "Because me, my family, the UK can't take another shot through the heart like what happened last time."

In a separate conversation with The Indian Express, the Scotsman talked about possibly dethroning World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest when they square off at this year's Clash at the Castle in Glasgow.

"I am so focused on winning back the title that I really have not given any thought to the future," McIntyre noted. "However, as was the case when I was the World Heavyweight Champion for the first time, I will take on all comers. Like if you earn the right to fight for the title, you’re gonna get yourself a title opportunity. I see some people coming up with a lot of hunger and a lot of potential as well."

"One particular person of interest is Bron Breakker; he has been tearing through the competition, but at the same time, he’s got to learn how to harness the anger in the right direction. I’m sure I’ll see him down the line. We got a roster of very talented people and a few people injured. I’m sure they’ll be returning very soon on Raw and SmackDown."

"We’re already on fire right now. The company is quite hot, and once the injured people return, we are gonna go even to the next level again. It’s crazy how popular WWE is right now," he concluded.

Do you think McIntyre will become champion again at Clash at the Castle this Saturday?
