Bobby Lashley made it very clear that he's coming for the WWE Championship last night on Raw, and WWE has now officially announced that The Almighty One will get an opportunity at the title when he goes one-on-one with Drew McIntyre at the upcoming Backlash pay-per-view event.
Lashley has certainly been a force to be reckoned with since returning to the company, but this will be his first shot at a major championship. The narrative WWE seems to be pushing is that his previous managers (Lo Rush and Lana) failed to secure him the opportunities he deserved, but his latest "advocate" MVP did what he needed to get his new client a shot at the gold.
Of course, it's highly unlikely that Lashley will actually defeat McIntyre so soon after he took the title from Brock Lesnar, but it should be a great match regardless.
Both Superstars traded jabs over Twitter when the match was announced.
Be sure to tune in to WWE Backlash on the WWE Network, Sunday, June 14, at 7 ET/4 PT to find out who comes out on top.
