We've seen a number of reports that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is being eyed by WWE for a WrestleMania match against Roman Reigns, but it was recently reported that it won't happen next year. The Great One also won't be at Survivor Series to mark the 25th anniversary of his debut for the company, and isn't scheduled to appear at the Show of Shows right now.
Instead, Reigns is expected to defend the Universal Championship against Brock Lesnar, though there were once reports that The Rock could be paired up with one of The Usos for a tag team bout with the Head of the Table (to avoid his Hollywood commitments potentially being affected by injury).
Well, during a recent interview to promote Red Notice, Johnson said that there's currently no truth to rumours that he's set to square off with his cousin on the Grandest Stage of Them All.
"Andrew, you’ve known me for a very long time, I can tell you that there is no truth to that right now," he says. "Possibly down the road, we will see. We stay very close, myself and Roman Reigns. I’m very happy, very proud for the work that he’s doing, as well as The Usos, my other family members. Those guys will continue to do what they’re doing, and we’ll see down the road."
So, it could happen, but will Johnson really want to tie himself to the sinking ship that is WWE?
We'll see.
