It’s official, The Rock’s final match is indeed against Erick Rowan at WrestleMania 32. The “People’s Champ” confirmed that he quietly retired from professional wrestling during his appearance on the morning talk show Live with Kelly and Ryan.
When questioned if he missed being inside the squared circle, the former WWE Champion stated that he does, but makes it clear that he’s done inside the ring (transcript courtesy of wrestletalk.com):
“Yes, I do… I quietly retired from wrestling because I was lucky enough to have just a really wonderful career and accomplish what I wanted to accomplish, but there’s nothing like a live crowd, a live audience, a live microphone as you both know.”
The 47-year-old made his professional wrestling debut back in 1996; Since then, The Rock would capture the hearts of millions of fans thanks to his charisma and memorable moments that made him a star throughout the Attitude Era.
The Rock has won the WWE Championship on multiple occasions, along with the Intercontinental and World Tag Team titles. He’s also a Royal Rumble winner. Despite The Rock’s in-ring career being officially over, there’s still a huge chance that the Hollywood star will make appearances within the WWE every now and then.
