Talent releases in WWE were a regular occurrence when Vince McMahon was calling the shots. That's somewhat changed on Triple H's watch, though the company does occasionally clean house and, this weekend, shocked everyone with a total of 10 releases.
The number has grown to 11 today with the addition of Elektra Lopez. Her profile was quietly moved to the "Alumni" section on WWE.com, with PWInisder.com later confirming that she's joining the other WWE Superstars who have been released in recent days.
Serving as a manager for Legado del Fantasma, she last wrestled on the December 6 edition of SmackDown in a Triple Threat match with Tiffany Stratton and Naomi. Her last singles bout was in September for a WWE Speed match against Kairi Sane.
Lopez's name now joins a list of names which includes more than a few surprises:
- Sonya Deville
- Akam
- Rezar
- Paul Ellering
- Blair Davenport
- Cedric Alexander
- Luke Gallows
- Karl Anderson
- Isla Dawn
- Giovanni Vinci
Considering the fact Triple H brought The Authors of Pain and The O.C. back into the fold after McMahon fired them, much has been said about the fact they're among those released. Blair Davenport and Isla Dawn are two more surprises, especially as the latter won the Women's Tag Team titles in front of her friends and family in Scotland as recently as last June.
According to Fightful Select, "Those within NXT Fightful spoke to believe the releases are tied to a new batch of call-ups being brought in to main roster in 2025."
In other words, WWE has cut talent they no longer have anything for. That's probably better than keeping them at home indefinitely, especially as they'll be free to sign with other promotions after 90 days (there's always a chance they'll find their way back to WWE too).
There's no word on who those NXT callups will be, though we've heard that Roxanne Perez is considered a member of the RAW roster following her impressive showing in the women's Royal Rumble match a couple of weekends ago.
Stay tuned for updates as we have them.
