Last summer, WWE announced that Paul Heyman would serve as the Executive Director of
RAW, while Eric Bischoff would serve in the same role on
SmackDown. While the former appears to be doing great things in the role, Bischoff lasted only a few months.
Now, he's talked more about who ultimately has "creative control" in WWE, and Bischoff makes it clear that it's Vince McMahon who makes those calls on Monday nights rather than Heyman.
"Let me make one thing clear, and I can say this because this is public knowledge," he starts. "What I'm about to say is not inside information. It's not me violating any trust, contractual or otherwise. There's one guy who has creative control. It's not Paul Heyman. I hate to break your bubble, and I love Paul by the way."
"This not meant to take a half-a** shot or anything like that, but Paul Heyman doesn't have creative control," Bischoff continues. "And anybody who thinks he does is kidding themselves. I know Paul doesn't and neither does anybody else. One guy has creative control, and we all know who that is."
When I said, 'while I was there, I didn't have creative control,' I was being honest. I didn't because one man did. Paul Heyman doesn't. Eric Bischoff didn't. Nobody who follows in my steps including Bruce Pritchard, you know how much I love Bruce, or Paul Heyman have creative control."
That's all well and good, but there has been a notable improvement on RAW in recent months and it was reported last week that Vince McMahon rarely appears behind the scenes these days. It's definitely interesting getting some insight into how things work, though, and it really does seem like things are finally heading in a better direction for RAW these days.
What do you guys think?
