Former WWE Superstar Erick Rowan was a guest on "The Ryback Show" this week, and he didn't hold back from expressing his frustrations with the company. He fared much better than Luke Harper in his final months with WWE after initially being paired up with Daniel Bryan and then put in squash matches alongside his "pet" (an animatronic toy spider).
Despite that, Rowan was left frustrated with the way his character was handled in WWE. "I was professional but I was vocal about it. I said, what’s the plan for the cage? Why am I doing this? I was told it was something that’s going to be killed by a babyface but it will set up a good feud. Ok, it’s going somewhere. I’m waiting and waiting and that never happens."
Drew McIntyre destroyed his pet, but it obviously never led anywhere, and Rowan also criticised Paul Heyman for seemingly failing to relay his issues to Vince McMahon. Explaining that approaching the WWE Chairman himself proved to be a frustrating waste of time, Rowan recalled pitching ideas which weren't listened to, but being told "I’m in great standing with the company."
"Those were the last words I heard," he added. "That was the last time I was on TV. It was a complete blindside in that respect."
As for his future, Rowan added: "Obviously I see another side of things I want to pursue. I don’t really feel like signing a contract that is going to lock me down anywhere and not be able to do other things. That would be the huge takeaway for me. I want to see what else is out there. As far as wrestling goes, I still have fun."
As of right now, whether that will take him obviously remains to be seen!
