During last night's episode of RAW, Finn Balor finally got his shot at the Universal Championship when he squared off with Roman Reigns. Unfortunately, the extraordinary man who can do extraordinary things came up short but The Big Dog walked away with the title he beat Brock Lesnar for at SummerSlam.
During a recent interview, Balor was asked for his thoughts on Reigns and was quick to jump to his defence. "I don’t get it, He’s probably one of the hardest working people in WWE, he looks great, he’s professional, a great talker and behind everything, a great person," The Demon King reveals.
"He’s great behind the scenes, he will help you with anything you want and he’s always polite," Balor added. "He was great to me when I first came into WWE and he continues to help me today. I can’t speak of anything but greatness for Roman Reigns, he’s one of the all-time greats."
Bear in mind that Reigns was the first person Balor faced on the main roster and The Big Dog put him over in a big way that night. Finn finished by taking a shot of Dave Meltzer, seemingly blaming him for the response Reigns gets from fans (Balor has previously made fun of reports from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that he's not "over" backstage and isn't particularly well-liked by Vince McMahon).
"I think it’s monkey do as monkey see and people are easily led. They might read what one person has written in a newsletter, decide that person’s right, and then jump on the bandwagon. That’s what’s happened with Roman. People are very fickle – I remember when The Shield were doing their thing and everyone was behind Roman; he was the coolest guy in The Shield. Opinions change in this business and they forget the past but Roman ain’t sweating it."
