Finn Balor Has Dashed Hopes That He'll Face Brock Lesnar As The Demon At THE ROYAL RUMBLE
This is disappointing. Fans were hoping to see "The Demon vs. The Beast" this Sunday at The Royal Rumble, but Finn Balor has now confirmed that he'll be facing Brock Lesnar as "The Man" (no, not that one!)...
For most Finn Balor fans, it was almost a foregone conclusion that the Irish Superstar would head into his Universal Championship match against Brock Lesnar at The Royal Rumble in his undefeated (at least, on the main roster) Demon persona, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen.
Here's what Balor has to say to ESPN when asked about the possibility.
"I feel like maybe I leaned on the demon too much there in the past as a crutch, and I can assure you that the man who faces Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble will be Finn Balor, the man. I think a lot of people were surprised when I came out at WrestleMania not in demon paint but I feel like I had a bigger message to spread that day -- one of equality and acceptance.
Honestly, this match just kind of came about so fast that I haven't had much time to think about it. I don't have any new gear, I don't have any new looks, I don't have any new ideas right now, but you know, we're still six days away, so I'm sure I'll come up with something."
We haven't seen Finn as The Demon since he took on Baron Corbin in a throwaway match at SummerSlam, and it had been close to year before that. So, we think many would disagree that Balor has been "leaning too much" on The Demon!
Finn is undefeated in Demon form so there's a chance WWE simply wants to keep it that way, which obviously suggests that he won't be taking the title away from Lesnar at The Rumble.
