During last night's episode of RAW, a series of qualifying matches took place for the two Money in the Bank ladder matches that will take place next month. The PPV will take place in front of fans, so the hope is that WWE plans to pull out all the stops and make this a night to remember.
It's too soon to say whether that will be the case, but we now have the first seven Superstars who will go to war for the opportunity to get their hands on one of those briefcases.
Piper Niven's new ring name has been confirmed as "Doudrop," and she teamed up with Eva Marie to face Asuka and Naomi. Eva quickly tagged out of the match and left it all up to her partner; well, that backfired when she tagged herself back in to try and score the pinfall victory, as Doudrop jumped off the ring apron and Naomi rolled Eva up for the 1-2-3.
Yes, she's been on RAW a week and Eva has already lost and been ditched by her ally.
Elsewhere in the show, AJ Styles and Ricochet battled for the chance to compete at Money in the Bank, but a ringside distraction caused by Omos and The Viking Raiders allowed Ricochet to pick up the upset win. Yet another distraction finish took place in Randy Orton's match with John Morrison; as Riddle attempted to stop The Miz from interfering, The Viper ended up suffering a loss when his opponent was able to capitalise on that to hit Starship Pain.
Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross beat Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax to earn their spots at the PPV, while Riddle later scored a huge victory over former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre with a rollup. Nursing his injuries from the night before, McIntyre simply couldn't overcome his healthy opponent.
Now, Ricochet, John Morrison, and Riddle will all compete in the men's Money in the Bank match, while Asuka, Naomi, Alexa Bliss, and Nikki Cross have all been confirmed for the women's bout.
