Former NXT Champion Andrade is done with WWE.

Last week, it reported that the former NXT Champion had requested his release from the promotion, which was rumored to be denied by the company. Wrestlinginc.com first revealed the news, with PWInsider confirming the story and stating that Andrade looked "absolutely miserable" at Raw that week.

The former WWE United States Champion eventually confirmed the rumors on social media:

There was no word on what the future held for Andrade following the news breaking out over the company denying his release. The 31-year-old was reportedly not backstage on the go-home show of Monday Night RAW.

In fact, the last time Andrade wrestled on television was on an October 2020 episode of the flagship brand, losing to Angel Garza. The former RAW star took some time off to undergo elective surgery. This was supposed to keep him off of television for just a month; however, officials never had any plans for the former NXT Champion so he wasn’t brought back on television. Andrade wasn’t even drafted to RAW or Smackdown, though reports state that he was going to end up back on RAW soon.

Andrade joined the company back in 2016 and managed to be one of the hottest acts of NXT by the time he moved up to the main roster in 2018. He won the WWE United States Championship in late 2019 and managed to keep the belt for 151 days. There’s no word on where the former WWE star will end up, but several rumors indicate that he’ll likely return back to the independent scene in Mexico.
