All Elite Wrestling has been hailed as something new in the world of wrestling but it's arguably been quite some time since WWE has been hailed as a fresh product. Now, former
SmackDown Executive Director Eric Bischoff has weighed in on the formulaic nature of WWE and was asked by Conrad Thompson about the "sameness" of the company's weekly shows.
"That's one of the observations I've had about WWE in general for a long time," Bischoff said. "As great as they are – and I wanna preface this that this is not a criticism, it's a perspective. When a show becomes so formulaic, when the format becomes so standard and you see the same thing, especially for a live show like Raw – you see the same basic open, the same clothes, the same talent, the same style of interviews – nothing ever really changes."
"It's boring and you kinda kill that desire that you want to develop in the audience to go, 'Oh man, I can't wait to see what happens next week' because you know what's going to happen next week," he continued. "It's the same thing, basically, that happened the week before."
It's definitely interesting to hear Bischoff's perspective on the WWE product but seeing as he didn't really make any sort of impact as SmackDown Executive Director (and was reportedly out of his depth in the role), it's hard to say how valid his opinion is as he wasn't exactly a force for change!
What do you guys think?
