Ricochet recalls his final days in Lucha Underground.

Before landing a developmental deal with NXT back in 2018, Ricochet made a name for himself in numerous promotions, including Lucha Underground as Prince Puma.

The 32-year-old was treated as the company’s top star since season one, with Puma being the inaugural Lucha Underground Champion. Puma’s time with the company would end on the final episode of season three due to a loser leaves town match against Pentagon Jr.

That finale aired on October 18, 2017, finally allowing Ricochet to make his move back into the wrestling world again, but the former United States Champion had to wait 18 months before making wrestling dates again, a very frustrating process for Ricochet (Transcript courtesy of Fightful):

“Season three, they filmed like 36 episodes. I was supposed to wait until season three aired, then I had a 90-day no-work clause and then I could start doing stuff. I had to wait until the finale aired before the 90 days started. Without telling anybody, they took a three-month break in the middle of the season. Not only do I have a three-month break in the middle, but then I had to wait 90 days after the finale.

I was like, ‘Come on guys, what the F.’ I even tried to talk to them and was like, ‘can we get the 90 days taken down to 60 or 30 days? I can’t go do stuff because you’re holding me to this contract. You decided, without telling anybody that you’re taking a mid-season break, which you didn’t do the first two seasons.’ I had to wait half a year before I could do anything. It was frustrating,” stated Ricochet on the Flash Morgan Webster’s Wrestling Friends podcast.
