Former World Heavyweight Champion Dolph Ziggler hasn’t wrestled for the Royal Rumble. Obviously, the RAW superstar didn’t win the RR match-up, but it appears that Ziggler wasn’t even scheduled for the big show at all, but in the world of WWE, plans always change and that’s the case in Ziggler’s situation:
"Oh my God. That's a great story," Ziggler began.
"Can I tell this story? When I talked to you, I was not booked for the Royal Rumble and I have no reason to lie to anybody or be like 'Hey listen, I don't know what the deal is.' I was just on hiatus and I got a call to be there. And if I wasn't in town for a booking for a comedy show that night I would not have even been in Phoenix. I got a call the night before saying 'Hey, you gotta get here."
At the moment, Ziggler is on vacation from the company and stated previously that he’s more so on a handshake agreement on the
Wrestling Inside the Ropes radio show:
"Technically, I am, yes," Ziggler said.
"It's weird because for the last two years I've had somewhat of a handshake agreement, kind of behind closed doors deal with WWE. I've been able to do a lot of things, on my own, not at WWE, just because of the relationship we've had for the last 14 years. I have a bit of a handshake agreement right now, but we'll know some more details in the coming months."
His last feud before his break was against his former tag team partner, Drew McIntyre. The two came to blows at the RR, which teased the continuation of their feud; however, it many have been just the way the bout was booked that night with no plans going forward between the former WWE Tag Team champions:
"I'm not exactly sure, but it did go into it more, I don't know if that continues because I'm still just on vacation," Ziggler said.
"I think it was more just I was in town and I'm one of their guys and it happened to work out so I got a double booking, double pay day, WWE and the comedy show."
