The former WWE Champion has been out of action for nearly five months and the speculation around Sheamus’ in-ring status continues to paint the 41-year-old’s career as done. Sheamus has yet to speak on his in-ring future until he took part of a Q&A on the
International Business Times, with the former multi-time tag team champion addressing the rumors surrounding his retirement from the squared circle and the desire to get into the IC title picture if he’s able to make a return.
The reported reasoning behind Sheamus being sidelined is due to a cervical spinal stenosis. The ‘Celtic Warrior’ has yet to declare that he’s retired from in-ring competition; however, he’s not exactly sure what his future holds when it comes to wrestling again (transcript courtesy of
International Business Times):
“I don’t know what the story is in my future. I have no idea, I honestly don’t. I just know that I like have some time off but I do miss being in the ring.”
Should the former WWE Champion get back into the ring, then Sheamus would love to enter the Intercontinental title mix, which is currently held by Shinsuke Nakamura:
“If I get back to the ring, that would be the first thing I would go after. As of now I am still listed as a SmackDown superstar and the title is on SmackDown. But as of now, I have no access to the title but its definitely the one I want.”
