Babatunde is officially on the MLW roster.

Going under the name of Babathunder, the former WWE star wrestled MADS Krule Krugger and failed to beat the CONTRA Unit member. Then, Kruger gave him an ultimatum: join the CONTRA Unit as a mercenary or leave in a body bag.

Babathunder responded with one phrase: Hail CONTRA!

The former WWE star isn’t the only name that’s come down to Major League Wrestling recently as Matt Riddle, Donovan Dijak, Trevor Lee, and even Eric Bischoff have made appearances for the promotion.

The former Babatunde was released from his WWE contract in September 2023. Originally, he was brought into development in 2016 and it’s clear why from the beginning. The 36-year-old is 6’9, and it’s well documented how much Vince McMahon loves big guys. Babatunde spent nearly four years down in the performance center training.

He didn’t make his main roster debut until August 3, 2020 during the infamous RAW Underground segment. Now going by the name, Dabba-Kato, he was showcased as a powerhouse for a couple of segments until RAW Underground was scrapped. His most successful main roster stint would be as Commander Azeez with Apollo Crews. Once Crews dropped the Intercontinental Championship then the act fell to the lower card.

Babathunde was sent back down to NXT in June 2022 and they tried to give him something to do in the developmental brand. The problem is, Babathunde still needed some work on his in-ring game. His most notable feud was with Apollo Crews and though he wasn't too bad, it didn't seem to be enough to keep Babathunde onboard. He disappeared on television until his not-too-shocking release. It didn’t seem that Triple H had much interest in using the big man on WWE television due to the lack of his wrestling ability. That’s pure speculation on my end.

The former WWE star has been putting in the work on the independent scene for the past year, and it should be interesting to see how well he does in MLW. He looked solid in his match against MADS Krugger and he should be able to play the mercenary pretty well.
