Former WWE Champion Alberto El Patron received some good news yesterday when one charge of aggravated kidnapping and four sexual assault charges were dismissed after a witness failed to appear in court. An arraignment was held on Friday with the actual trial set to begin this Monday, December 13. However, this missing witness was enough to cause the whole thing to collapse.

The case is now closed. It had been scheduled to take place on January 25, but was postponed on multiple occasions as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Patron could have landed behind bars between 5 years and life had he been convicted. A series of damaging allegations had been made against the former WWE Superstar, including that he'd beaten and sexually assaulted his ex-partner. The victim later issued an apology to his family via social media, and Patron's brother responded by saying the charges were false. We're assuming she's the missing witness, hence why the case has been dropped (as Patron previously said it would be).

There have been rumblings Patron might return to WWE as Alberto Del Rio, and with this case now in his rearview, it appears the door might be open to that becoming a reality.

Keep checking back here for details.
