The news that WWE had decided to release The IIconics, Billie Kay and Peyton Royce, was not met with a positive response from fans, and it's fair to say that Jessica McKay and Cassie Lee stand a good chance of proving to their former employers made a big mistake in the years to come.
Unfortunately, we'll be waiting a while before learning about their post-WWE plans.
"The difficult thing for us is, we still don’t have our green cards, so we’re not allowed to work until we get those or until we find sponsorship anywhere else. We’re so excited; we have all this freedom and so many ideas, but pump the brakes because we can’t do any of it," Lee explained in an interview on Renne Paquette's Oral Sessions podcast.
You have to believe that AEW and IMPACT will have an eye on Lee and McKay, but those Green Card issues are likely to ensure they're unable to wrestle anywhere for at least the next year.
It definitely sounds like they have ambitions to continue competing, though that's no great surprise considering the mark they made on the independent circuit before being signed to NXT. Many female wrestlers who are released go on to do modelling, acting, or influencing, but we're definitely keen to see more of this iconic duo fighting side-by-side - or each other - in the squared circle.
