WWE fans still remember Nexus very fondly, and one former member of the short-lived faction has now revealed that there were plans to reform the group for WrestleMania 36 before COVID-19 put the brakes on.

Nexus was a faction formed from the members of the original NXT (back when it was structured more like a reality show), and the group made a memorable main roster debut on Raw in 2010 when they interfered in a match between John Cena and CM Punk.

The segment was red hot, and quickly established Wade Barrett, David Otunga, Daniel Bryan, Skip Sheffield (Ryback), Darren Young, Justin Gabriel, Heath Slater and Michael Tarver as one of the top heel stables in pro-wrestling. Of course, WWE still found a way to mess things up, and any momentum Nexus had was snuffed out when John Cena beat every member of the team by himself at Survivor Series.

Fans still speculate about a potential Nexus reunion to this day, and it turns out we very nearly saw it happen at WrestleMania 36 - although they weren't actually going to be involved in a match.

Darren Young revealed that WWE was planing to reform the group for Axxess, but that obviously didn't happen because of the coronavirus pandemic. He also suggested that there may have been some future content for the WWE Network planned.

We don't know if every member would have returned (some are under contract for other promotions), but the fact that WWE was even considering this could open the door to a reunion down the line.
