After finding great success in NXT, there was absolutely no reason Andrade couldn't find similar success on the main WWE roster. Unfortunately, he never received the push he deserved, and it quickly became clear that Vince McMahon didn't have much faith in the former NXT Champion.
Zelina Vega's release did Andrade no favours, and it's been months since we've seen him on television.
Recently, it was reported that he had requested his own release from WWE, but the company refused. It didn't take long for that to be granted, though, and it's been reported that he doesn't even have the typical 90-day non-compete clause in his contract (there's been a lot of speculation that the sway his real-life fiancée Charlotte Flair has behind the scenes may be part of that).
In a recent interview with UnSKripted, former WWE Superstar Epico revealed new details on why enough was enough for Andrade.
"I've been talking to him," he confirmed. "I saw him in Orlando two weeks ago and he was like, 'They are not doing anything with me, and it's not a matter of the money but me following my dreams. I hate sitting at catering every week.' It's pretty toxic when you look at it that way. You've got the best performers in the world over there. Just look at the locker room."
This explanation was to be expected, and no one can blame Andrade for not wanting to be stuck backstage each week, unused, and unable to live his dream as a pro wrestler.
Something tells us WWE will regret not keeping him around...
