Former WWE Superstar Wade Barrett Believes He Will Return To Wrestling...Eventually
Wade Barrett didn't leave WWE under the best of terms and hasn't wrestled since. He does, however, have some involvement with the wrestling business and has now weighed in on the possibility of competing again.
Wade Barrett had some bright spots in his WWE career but never quite managed to reach the top. It appeared as if that would happen for a while but he never quite got there and things went rapidly downhill when he sustained an injury during the peak of his Bad News Barrett gimmick. The British wrestler never recovered from that and ended up parting ways with WWE last year.
Since then, he's attempted to pursue a career away from wrestling as an actor but recently returned to the squared circle as a General Manager for the little known UK Indie company Defiant Wrestling.
Asked in a recent interview whether or not he's ever going to wrestle again, Wade - now known as Stu Bennett - seemed open to the idea but is clearly waiting until the time is right to make it happen.
"I have my good days and bad days. There’s days where I think I don’t miss it all and then there’s days like yesterday [at Refuse to Lose on October 2] where you see the kind of reactions the guys were getting and get that desire to get back in the ring. I’m 99 per cent certain I will wrestle again at some point, I just couldn’t tell you when. I have those days where I’m like ‘no, everything hurts, I don’t ever wanna get back in a wrestling ring again’ – but I have days where I feel great and can’t wait to get back in. I knew at some point I’ll be wanting to get back in, so if the right opportunity comes along we’ll get it done."
Chances are we won't see Wade back in WWE. Well, not in the near future anyway. It could happen one day but for now, he's clearly going to find his footing on the independent circuit in the UK.
