Former WWE Superstar Wade Barrett Reportedly In Talks For Full-Time Return To The Company

Recently, Wade Barrett/Stu Bennett made a surprise return to WWE as an announcer on NXT, but it's now being reported that the former WWE Superstar could make a permanent return to the company in that role...

Since leaving WWE, Stu Bennett (known as Wade Barrett in the company) hasn't done a huge amount in the pro wrestling world. He did appear on some British shows, and later started doing commentary for the NWA, but that was somewhat screwed up by the COVID-19 pandemic bringing a halt to their shows!

According to PW Insider, his appearance during last week's NXT was meant to be something of a "feeling out" process, and we'll hear his work again on Wednesday as WWE taped two shows back to back. However, he's since met with WWE officials and is negotiating a full-time return as a commentator (meaning we're unlikely to see him step back into the ring).

With NXT UK seemingly nearing its end, time will tell whether his presence his felt there as well, but the departure of Mauro Ranallo from WWE certainly explains what has led to Bennett being brought in by WWE. While it will be hard to fill the void he'll leave, Barrett's announcing work has been widely praised since his NWA debut.

We'll keep you guys updated when it comes to what happens next, but it's hard not to be excited about seeing more of Barrett/Bennett in WWE.
