Former WWE Women’s Champion Mickie James underwent surgery at the Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center in Birmingham, Alabama, earlier today to repair a torn ACL.

The Smackdown Live star suffered the injury back in early June during a house show match and it’s expected that James will miss at least 7 to 9 months of in-ring action. Sadly, the former WWE Women’s Champion was used sparingly on the main roster in 2019. When she was used, James was mostly positioned as Alexa Bliss’ lackey.

James stated this past week that she misses being inside the ring and with her contract potentially ending sometime this year, the veteran would make a strong addition to any women’s roster should she choose to not re-sign. There’s no word on when James’ contract ends exactly; however, the Smackdown Live star inked a deal with the promotion back in 2016 for a reported three-year tenure.

Her husband Nick Aldis confirmed that the surgery was a success and so does Mickie herself:
