Just weeks after Variety shared a cover story about Vince McMahon and WWE, the trade has now released a damning report about WWE's current creative woes. As well as delving into the falling ratings and the company's slumping stock, they reveal that there's some concern at FOX and USA Network about what's happening with WWE right now.
Apparently, both are
"reportedly getting anxious about the state of the WWE," especially after paying a combined $2.35 billion this year to keep
RAW and
SmackDown Live on the air for five years.
Now, with ratings and stock prices falling, Variety is calling on McMahon to give shareholders some answers about how this will be addressed. In a previous conference call, poor viewership numbers were pinned on injured talent but the trade points out that they really weren't gone all that long so the claim wasn't exactly accurate.
Needless to say, this is more bad news for WWE, especially as the report mentions All Elite Wrestling as being competition moving forward...
