Fox Is Reportedly Pushing For A Former UFC Champion To Join The SMACKDOWN LIVE Announce Team

It's quickly becoming clear that Fox will make some big changes to SmackDown Live when it reaches the network next October and now a new report reveals another big change that could end up being made...

We've already heard that Fox wants SmackDown Live to feel more like a sports show than a comedy (an area WWE delves into a little too often) but it seems as if even more big changes could be in the works for the blue brand. According to Dave Meltzer, with UFC making the leap from Fox to ESPN, the network is hoping to keep former UFC Champion Daniel Cormier around...as part of WWE!

He won't be wrestling, though; instead, Fox is hoping to see Cormier join the show's broadcast team because they're high on his work on UFC Tonight and his presence would legitimise the product.

As of right now, Meltzer notes that McMahon isn't that heavily involved with SmackDown Live but that could change next year so it will be interesting seeing what he makes of all these big changes and how RAW (which remains on
USA) will differ. Cormier is a lifelong wrestling fan and it's said that if he does end up serving as a WWE commentator, he will remain part of the UFC team as well.
