Further Evidence Mounts That Matt Hardy's In-Ring Career Has Come To A Premature End

Matt Hardy fought to bring his #BROKEN gimmick to WWE and it appears as if it will never get the opportunity to take off because more evidence has mounted that his in-ring career could be nearing its end.

Matt Hardy was working backstage at this past Sunday's SummerSlam PPV as he takes some time away from the ring to take care of nagging back issues but his wife Reby Hardy has now revealed that he's in something of a transition phase. Why? Well, it's because he's not entirely sure what will come next for him due to his health and the fact his WWE contract is expected to expire next March.

"There’s sort of a decision to be made at this point as to whether or not he should continue his in-ring career or if she should pursue something different, which he would totally be up for and would be excited to do, I feel like," she explains. "So, he’s kind of giving it a go right now backstage. And we’re kind of going to see from here. It’s really a transitional time right now."

As great as it will be for Matt to take on a backstage role in WWE, it's awful to think that his career might be over, especially as he and Jeff were never given the opportunity to explore their #BROKEN personas in the company. While the return of the Hardy Boyz to WWE hasn't been an outright disaster, it's also been something of a disappointment similar to when The Dudley Boyz came back!
