We heard a while ago that WWE is reducing the number of PPVs we see in a year and the reason for that may have now been made clear. According to Wrestle Votes, all future WWE PPVs are going to be dual branded from Backlash onwards. That takes place on May 6th and it's a decision which makes sense for a lot of reasons. Before we get to those, though, what's let to this significant change?
Apparently, it all boils down to WWE wanting to move away from repetitive matches used to fill the card along with disappointing ticket sales. Having RAW and SmackDown Live Superstars on the shows is bound to help with that and should ensure the matches which do make it are more important.
It's already been reported that Money in the Bank will join the Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, SummerSlam, and Survivor Series PPV as being dual branded so this move is probably long overdue. For now, though, this should obviously be considered a rumour as nothing is confirmed. However, it is noted that the weekly TV shows won't be affected so don't go expecting the brand split to come to an end!
