WWE has a habit of inflating the actual attendance figures for WrestleMania but there's no hiding those in the company's earnings reports for the quarter. While the company claimed on the night that there were 82,265 fans in the arena, there were, in fact, 63,000 paid ticket holders in New Jersey.
That information comes from Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter and he notes that "with it being a legit sellout, that says that the stage must have been blocking off more seats as WrestleManias that sellout legit will have 5,000 to 7,000 comps, so the real figure would have been 68,000 to 70,000."
The last time WWE held WrestleMania in MetLife Stadium was 2013 and that show was headlined by John Cena vs. The Rock. At that time, WWE announced that there were 80,676 fans in the building when there was actually 74,300 there, 68,900 of whom had paid for tickets.
