2017 was quite the year for AJ Styles. He kicked things off as WWE Champion only to lose the title to John Cena at the Royal Rumble before kicking off WrestleMania in a stellar match against Shane McMahon. Shortly after, he turned face and won the United States Championship and later once again nabbed the WWE Championship and stole the show in matches with Brock Lesnar and Finn Balor.
Well, 2018 is already going pretty well for The Phenomenal One as it's been revealed that as of January 1st, Styles has become only the sixth man to start and end a calendar year as WWE Champion.
He now joins an elite club made up of names like Bruno Sammartino, Bob Backlund, Hulk Hogan, John Cena, and CM Punk. Styles will, of course, have his hands full at this year's Royal Rumble but the signs are currently pointing to him defending the title at this year's Showcase of the Immortals.
