As you may recall, Elias was pulled from his King of the Ring semi-final match against Chad Gable on the September 10th episode of SmackDown Live. He ended up being replaced by Shane McMahon and the reason for that was because he was dealing with a legitimate ankle injury.

Now, Dave Meltzer has revealed in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter is that the plan is for Elias to be cleared by late October.

The reason he played for that song for Gable on this week's SmackDown Live was to set up a feud between the two once he returns. In the meantime, it appears as if the plan is for the former Olympian to continue squaring off with King Corbin. However, seeing as Gable missed his match with Elias in the tournament, those two facing off down the line makes sense.
