With his wife expecting twins, Roman Reigns made the decision to walk out of WrestleMania and not put his family - or himself - at risk. Since then, his name hasn't been mentioned, and we recently saw him completely edited out of a video package featuring Seth Rollins cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase at WrestleMania 31.
In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer sheds some light on what's happening behind the scenes and explains that while there isn't a rule in WWE to erase The Big Dog from history, the announcers have indeed been told not to mention him. It's also worth noting that we have seen him in at least a couple of clips, including a recent special on Fox Sports 1.
Meltzer notes that Vince McMahon's reaction to how WWE should handle Reigns' absence "changes daily based on which way the wind is blowing," and that's why he's vanished one day, and then being mentioned the next. The one consistent is that RAW and SmackDown's commentators aren't supposed to mention his name.
As of right now, it doesn't appear as if there are plans for Reigns to return to WWE until the COVID-19 crisis passes, and that could mean he's absent right into next year...
