There's been a lot of speculation about Kevin Owens' in-ring future, especially after the former Universal Champion dropped a series of hints that he might make the leap to All Elite Wrestling.
In a now-deleted Tweet, Owens shared the coordinates to Mt. Rushmore. Before signing with NXT, he was part of the Mt. Rushmore stable with The Young Bucks and Adam Cole, leading to speculation that he might be making his intentions to sign with AEW clear. Owens also updated his Twitter profile to read "Almost There" as his location; Matt and Nick Jackson, meanwhile, responded with "There."
Now, we have an update on Owens' contract status with Fightful Select explaining that WWE renegotiated several deals in 2019 to give talent higher downside guarantees. However, that reduced the lengths of those contracts, hence why KO could choose to make the leap to AEW very soon.
"We know that WWE was aware of Owens’ deal, as we learned the news from a WWE employee earlier this Summer," the site explains. "This was not a case similar to Adam Cole or Pete Dunne, but the deal does end significantly sooner than previously publicly known."
As of right now, there's been no word on KO being in talks with AEW, but given how he's been booking in WWE lately, he'd be mad to stick around. Interestingly, he recently "Liked" the following Tweet:
