There have been rumblings for a while now that WWE might be planning to bring back the King of the Ring tournament, but it appears the company has different plans.
It's being widely reported that we're getting a Queen of the Ring tournament instead, and it's said that it will play out across RAW and SmackDown this October. Holding an all-women's tournament like this one should be welcome news to fans who have spent the past few years hoping for another Evolution-style PPV.
This is a far cry from that, but still a great way to highlight WWE's talented female Superstars.
According to Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men podcast, Queen of the Ring will kick off on the October 8 edition of SmackDown before continuing on the October 11 RAW.
As for the WWE Draft, that's still set to take place the week before, so it looks like the company plans to kick off the new "seasons" for these shows with a major tournament. Whether there are still plans for King of the Ring remains to be seen, but for now, it would obviously be better to keep the focus on the women.
As always, we'll be sure to let you guys know once more about this tournament is revealed.
