Here's The Latest On Why Charlotte Flair Won The SMACKDOWN Women's Championship Last Night

Last night's episode of SmackDown Live was supposed to feature a Fatal 4 Way match with Carmella, Mandy Rose, Sonya Deville, and Naomi all battling for the right to challenge for the Women's Championship at WrestleMania. Instead, Charlotte Flair received a surprise title match against Asuka and ended up with the win!

Now, Dave Meltzer has shed some light on the reasoning behind this and claims that the decision to take things in this direction wasn't made until before Tuesday itself. 

It's said that Vince McMahon felt there wasn't enough interest in that bout or the WrestleMania match that would stem from it, hence why Charlotte is now champion. The idea of her heading into the PPV with the title has been discussed for a while but he finally pulled the trigger yesterday and, as of right now, it won't becoming a Fatal 4 Way with Asuka. 

What we don't know is how having two champions in the Triple Threat match will impact the outcome...
