Some big changes have been made to Crown Jewel in recent weeks and it's now been revealed that the original plan was for John Cena to face Rey Mysterio in an early round (presumably the semifinals seeing as RAW and SmackDown Live Superstars are going head to head during the quarterfinals).

Mysterio would have reportedly beaten Cena to push him as a superhero to fans as they've recently branded him with the "Greatest Mask Of All-Time" tagline in a bid to get him over in a significant way.

WWE may very well have spoiled the World Cup tournament on SmackDown Live this Tuesday because Shane McMahon warned Randy Orton, The Miz, Rey Mysterio, and Jeff Hardy that if one of them loses, they'll be fired. It's hard to imagine any of them heading to RAW so that may point to a SmackDown Live Superstar emerging victorious, and as of right now, Mysterio seems like the safest bet.
