Becky Lynch fans were left equal parts disappointed and overjoyed by the recent news that the now former Raw Women's Champion would be relinquishing her title and taking some time off to be a mother.
The announcement seemed to come out of nowhere, but WWE has clearly known since at least before the Money in the Bank PPV, because it looks like plans were altered accordingly.
Most of us expected Shayna Baszler to win the MITB Women's Ladder match, and according to Wrestling Observer Newsletter, that was indeed the original plan. The Queen of Spades would then have feuded with The Man throughout the summer. Bex was set to face Nia Jax at the PPV with the championship on the line, and would have retained.
Now that Asuka is champion, we assume Baszler will be her first challenger, but that obviously remains to be seen.
