At the end of last Friday's episode of SmackDown, Aleister Black made his long-overdue return to WWE and cost Big E the Intercontinental Championship. Heading to the ring during the main event, the former NXT Champion hit The New Day member with Black Mass, and that allowed Apollo Crews to score the 1-2-3.
Surprisingly, there was no real fallout to that during yesterday evening's show, with neither Black nor Big E on the card. That's led to a lot of confusion among fans, but we now have an update for you.
According to PWInsider.com, while both Superstars were backstage for SmackDown, the decision not to use them was a creative one. WWE reportedly wants this new feud to hang for a week or so rather than rushing the storyline, and the report explains that this is an example of them letting things breathe (which makes a change).
Despite that, common sense says that these two will square off at the Hell in a Cell PPV in June, and this rivalry stands a chance of being one of the summer's best.
Many fans have hoped that Big E might eventually go after Roman Reigns' Universal Championship, so it will now be interesting seeing whether E comes out on top here or if WWE decides to give Black the push he started getting last year (before it was abruptly abandoned).
As always, keep checking back here for the latest updates.
