Evolution was praised by fans and critics alike and something which really stood out to them both was how different it felt to normal shows. What was the deal with that? Well, it turns out that there was a different crew in place and because the usual lighting, stages, and rig all had to be in North Carolina for RAW on Monday. As a result, WWE was forced to use some of the house show set for Evolution!
Because the PPV was such a late addition to the 2018 PPV calendar, it was logistically impossible to get the equipment from New York to North Carolina and the dark lighting was done specifically to give the show a different feel from your typical WWE PPV and it obviously gave it an NXT TakeOver vibe. The NXT production crew was also in charge as Kevin Dunn and the rest were getting ready for RAW.
However, it should be noted that Vince McMahon was backstage for the event running it alongside Triple H and Stephanie McMahon despite reports that he wasn't actually in town for the event.
