When Becky Lynch was forced to vacate the RAW Women's Championship, it was Asuka who was tasked with taking the title - by cashing in her Money in the Bank briefcase - and picking up where "The Man" left off.
After that, the Empress of Tomorrow was booked as a dominant force on the Monday night show, and managed to beat everyone who challenged her until facing Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania this April. She did feud with Ripley and Charlotte Flair for a time, but soon faded into the background of that storyline.
Very little has been done with Asuka since then, and we haven't seen her on television since this year's Money in the Bank PPV.
In today's Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer shed some light on what been going on. "For those asking about Asuka, she is fine," he reports. "She’s just not being used for anything right now. She was at the Raw tapings early but left early since she wasn’t being used."
Despite the fact Nikki A.S.H. is champion, it feels like RAW's women's division is basically revolving solely around Flair and Ripley at the moment, and it's baffling to think WWE couldn't find a storyline for Asuka to get involved in. She's done a lot during her time on the main roster, though, so it might not be the worst idea in the world to go back to the drawing board and come up with fresh ideas.
We'll see what happens and will keep you updated.
