Here's Why Rusev Is No Longer Heading To Saudi Arabia For SUPER SHOWDOWN This Thursday

During last night's RAW, it became apparent that Rusev is no longer taking part in that Gauntlet match during Thursday's Super ShowDown PPV, but we now have some backstage news on why that is. Check it out!

As we mentioned a little earlier today, Rusev has been pulled from Thursday's Super ShowDown PPV. The Bulgarian Brute has been replaced by Rey Mysterio in that Gauntlet match, and the timing of this is obviously very interesting after reports have started swirling about his contract status.

Well, Dave Meltzer has now shed some light on the situation during today's Wrestling Observer Radio, and he says that Rusev has backed out of the show due to an injury.

Interestingly, he doesn't sound convinced and there may actually be more to this situation than meets the eye. It's no secret that he's reportedly unhappy with his position in WWE, and the plug has seemingly been pulled on the love triangle storyline with Bobby Lashley and Lana lately.

We'll have to wait and see what happens, but it definitely feels like Rusev's days with WWE could be numbered...
