SummerSlam is shaping up to be one of 2023's best pro wrestling shows but there's one startling omission from the card: Becky Lynch vs. Trish Stratus.
We've previously heard that WWE wanted to save the match for this PLE, primarily because it's one of the company's four big PLEs of the year (the other three being the Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, and Survivor Series). However, during Monday's RAW, we learned the bout will be taking place on the August 14 edition of the show.
That hails from the Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, but what's up with the change?
As you might expect, it's a result of the WWE Hall of Famer's broken nose. Trish isn't cleared to wrestle, hence why the match has been delayed by a number of weeks and will not be part of the SummerSlam card.
Interestingly, Fightful Select has also revealed that "plans for the match changed this past weekend as the match was discussed for WWE Payback."
Another noteworthy omission from SummerSlam is Undisputed Women's Champion Rhea Ripley vs. Raquel Rodriguez. That was teased during RAW but seemingly won't happen at the show due to the challenger not being medically cleared (though, unlike Stratus, that appears to be storyline-based).
Here's the current confirmed match card for Saturday's SummerSlam.
