Believe it or not, there's been no sign of Rusev on SmackDown Live since early April when he teamed up with Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro to battle Kevin Owens, Kofi Kingston, and Xavier Woods.

Since then, there's been a lot of speculation that the Bulgarian Brute might be injured or possibly unhappy with his place in WWE and looking to be released like so many other Superstars who are now looking to head to All Elite Wrestling.

Well, according to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the truth of the matter is that he's simply asked for some time off and is expected back soon.

With any luck, things will start looking up for him when that happens because WWE completely dropped the ball on the "Rusev Day" gimmick by failing to give the former United States Champion a main event push. We'll keep you guys updated if we hear more.
