Shortly before Friday's episode of SmackDown went on the air, WWE decided to change the Hair vs. Hair match at SummerSlam to a Loser Leaves WWE, No Disqualification bout. Well, shortly after Sunday's PPV, Dave Meltzer confirmed on Wrestling Observer Radio that Sonya Deville's lawyer told her that shaving her head was not a good idea ahead of upcoming court appearances.
Those are obviously related to the fact that Deville's stalker broke into her home with the intention of kidnapping and possibly killing her (or Mandy Rose who was present in the house at the time).
"[The] reason why they switched the stipulation from the Hair vs. Hair to the Loser Leaves Town was because her lawyer basically said that with this thing going on, it’s probably not a good idea to cut your hair and get your head shaved for court...so they did an impromptu Loser Leaves Town," Meltzer explained. "Maybe because of the case she’s gonna take some time off. I know there’s other projects she was looking at doing. Obviously she’s gonna be back at some point."
Shortly after SummerSlam, WWE shared a backstage interview with Deville in which she responded "Do not call me that ever again!" when asked what's next for her. She will return to WWE somewhere down the line (likely once this court case is at an end), but probably going be her real name, Daria Berenato. With any luck, that will lead to her being repackaged by the company.
