Here's Why WWE Didn't Hold A HALFTIME HEAT Event During This Year's SUPER BOWL

Last year, WWE brought back Halftime Heat on the WWE Network with Superstars from NXT but the show was M.I.A. this year. Why? Well, we now have an answer and it seems to be all down to television deals...

There was a time when WWE brought Halftime Heat to wrestling fans on a regular basis (as a way of getting football fans to turn over during the Super Bowl's halftime show), and the idea was resurrected last year with NXT Superstars on the WWE Network.

Well, there was no sign of it earlier this month and fans have been wondering why. During the conference call to promote NXT TakeOver: Portland, WWE COO Triple H revealed that the company's deal with FOX (where the Super Bowl airs) ultimately prevented them from creating competition on a rival network.

"No, we kinda knew the Super Bowl was coming," he explains. "You know it’s kinda tough to tell Fox when they’re your partner - ‘You know what we’re gonna do? We’re gonna sway people over from the halftime show and get them to watch the Halftime Heat show. It’s a little different from the year before when they weren’t our partner."

"It was also a moment in time when people were clamoring about the halftime show not being what they wanted to see. So the timing of it was right. This year...would I love to do it? Sure, the timing didn’t work out this year."

Triple H aded that he's glad WWE didn't do Halftime Heat this year because FOX had a "crazy spectacular" halftime show with singers Shakira and Jennifer Lopez. The Game was actually in attendance for Super Bowl LIV and was a big fan of what he saw.

Do you think WWE made the right decision?
